Job Description
Join GardaWorld as a Federal Courthouse Security Guard in Chilliwack! This is an excellent opportunity for dedicated individuals looking to contribute to public safety in a professional environment. As an Unarmed Security Guard, you will be a vital part of maintaining order, security, and a welcoming atmosphere within the federal courthouse. You will be responsible for access control, patrolling, monitoring surveillance systems, and providing excellent customer service to visitors and staff. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas within the federal courthouse to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
- Operate detection devices to screen individuals and prevent the passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Respond to emergencies, such as medical incidents, fires, or security breaches, following established protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service and direction to visitors, ensuring a professional and respectful environment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all information encountered during duties.
- Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Valid BC Security Worker License (or ability to obtain prior to employment)
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Customer service orientation
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for report writing
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check and obtain federal security clearance
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field (6 months+)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience working in a government or public-facing environment
- Ability to de-escalate difficult situations calmly and effectively
