Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Financial Crime Analyst to join our team in Penrith. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying, investigating, and reporting suspicious financial activities to prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, and other financial crimes. You will work within a robust regulatory framework, utilising advanced analytical tools and your keen investigative skills to safeguard ANZ’s operations and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations into suspicious transactions and customer activities identified through monitoring systems or referrals.
- Prepare comprehensive Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) and submit them to regulatory bodies in accordance with AUSTRAC guidelines.
- Analyse complex financial data to detect patterns of illicit activity and identify potential risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including compliance, legal, and business units, to resolve financial crime matters.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of financial crime detection and prevention processes.
- Provide clear and concise documentation of all investigations and findings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial crime, AML/CTF, or a related compliance role within the banking sector.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear and concise reports.
- Proficiency in using financial crime monitoring systems and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian AML/CTF legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Finance, Law, Criminology, Business, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACAMS certification (CAMS or CGSS).
- Experience with case management systems and transaction monitoring software.
- Knowledge of emerging financial crime typologies and trends.
- Previous experience with sanction screening or fraud investigation.
