Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Formulation Scientist to join our Research & Development team in Bridgwater. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of innovative pharmaceutical formulations across various dosage forms. You will contribute to projects from early-stage development through to commercialization, ensuring robust and scalable formulations that meet product quality attributes and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments for the development and optimization of new and existing pharmaceutical formulations.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for formulation characterization.
- Perform stability studies to assess the shelf-life and robustness of formulations.
- Document all experimental work meticulously and prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including analytical development, process development, and manufacturing.
- Contribute to problem-solving and troubleshooting activities related to formulation development.
- Stay updated with the latest scientific and technological advancements in pharmaceutical formulation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience with various pharmaceutical dosage forms (e.g., solid oral, liquid, semi-solid, parenteral).
- Strong understanding of cGMP principles and regulatory guidelines relevant to pharmaceutical development.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques used for formulation characterization (e.g., HPLC, dissolution testing, particle size analysis).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a closely related field.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) and statistical analysis software.
- Familiarity with Quality by Design (QbD) principles.
- Experience in a large pharmaceutical or biotechnology company environment.
