Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Geophysicist to join our dynamic team in Falmouth, Cornwall. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, applying geophysical principles and techniques to solve real-world problems. You will be involved in data acquisition, processing, interpretation, and reporting across different domains, including environmental assessments, geotechnical investigations, and infrastructure development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of geophysical methods and a passion for working with geological data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute geophysical surveys using various techniques (e.g., GPR, resistivity, seismic).
  • Process and analyze geophysical data using industry-standard software.
  • Interpret geophysical results in the context of geological and engineering objectives.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations of findings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, engineers, and environmental scientists.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during field operations.
  • Contribute to proposal writing and project planning as required.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and developments in the field of geophysics.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in geophysical data acquisition and processing software (e.g., Oasis Montaj, Geosoft, Kingdom Suite).
  • Strong understanding of various geophysical methods (e.g., GPR, ERT, seismic refraction/reflection, magnetics).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
  • Previous experience in a consultancy or commercial environment.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., CGeol, CSci).
