Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Lumber Loader to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling, loading, and unloading of lumber and other building materials. This position requires significant heavy lifting and the ability to operate equipment safely. Beyond material handling, you will also play a crucial role in assisting customers, ensuring they find the right products and receive excellent service. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload lumber, drywall, and other building materials onto customer vehicles and store shelves.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment responsibly and according to safety guidelines (training provided).
  • Assist customers in locating and selecting lumber and building materials.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and offering product information.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lumber yard and storage area.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing inventory for accuracy.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by store management.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting repeatedly (up to 75 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong commitment to safety.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and counting materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment.
  • Forklift operation certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with various types of lumber and building materials.
