Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety (HSE) Manager to lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance at our Reading, UK campus. This pivotal role requires a proactive individual capable of developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE programs to ensure adherence to local regulations, national laws, and Oracle’s global standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, able to engage with diverse teams and drive a culture of safety across the organization. This position is open to international candidates who meet the qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE management systems and programs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant UK health, safety, and environmental legislation (e.g., HSWA 1974, COSHH, RIDDOR, Environmental Protection Act).
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending preventative measures.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
- Manage emergency preparedness and response plans.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on HSE performance.
- Collaborate with department heads and leadership to integrate HSE considerations into all operations.
- Stay current with changes in HSE legislation and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an HSE Manager or similar role, preferably in a corporate or technology environment.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- In-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation and regulations.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 management systems.
- Experience working within a multinational company environment.
- Fluency in additional languages.
