Job Description

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Operators to join our dynamic teams across various significant infrastructure projects in Hamilton, Ontario. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and other construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify any mechanical issues, reporting them to supervisors.
  • Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions from supervisors to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth project flow.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project needs.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders).
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and survey stakes.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all site regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • Mechanical aptitude for performing basic equipment checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Heavy Equipment Operator certification from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with GPS-guided equipment.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts as required by project demands.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
