Job Description
Aecon Group Inc. is seeking skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Operators to join our dynamic teams across various significant infrastructure projects in Hamilton, Ontario. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, and other construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify any mechanical issues, reporting them to supervisors.
- Follow project plans, blueprints, and instructions from supervisors to achieve desired outcomes.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth project flow.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project needs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders).
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and survey stakes.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all site regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
- Mechanical aptitude for performing basic equipment checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification from a recognized institution.
- Experience with GPS-guided equipment.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or shifts as required by project demands.
- Previous experience working on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
