Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for an immediate hire as a Hospital Patient Transporter. This is an active and vital role within our healthcare team, ensuring the safe and timely movement of patients, medical equipment, and other items throughout the hospital facility. You will play a crucial part in the patient experience, contributing to their comfort and efficient care journey. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and capable in this fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to and from various hospital departments (e.g., admissions, discharge, diagnostic areas, operating rooms).
- Provide empathetic and respectful interaction with patients, offering comfort and reassurance during transport.
- Verify patient identification and ensure proper documentation is maintained throughout the transport process.
- Assist clinical staff with transferring patients to and from beds, stretchers, or chairs, using proper body mechanics and safety equipment.
- Transport laboratory specimens, medical equipment, and supplies between departments as needed.
- Maintain transport equipment, ensuring it is clean, functional, and readily available.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff regarding patient movements and potential delays.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control procedures.
- Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, and lift for extended periods during an active shift.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to learn hospital protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a customer service or active role setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
