Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Technician with a focus on Civil infrastructure projects to join our dynamic team in Coffs Harbour. This role is integral to the successful delivery of various projects, providing technical support, drafting, and on-site assistance for electrical components within civil engineering contexts such as roads, bridges, water treatment plants, and urban developments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, excellent drafting skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Electrical Engineers in the design and documentation of electrical systems for civil infrastructure projects.
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
- Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather data and verify existing conditions.
- Perform calculations for electrical loads, cable sizing, and lighting designs under supervision.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design specifications.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including civil, structural, and mechanical engineers.
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant Australian standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Maintain project documentation and records accurately.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Electrical Technician, preferably in a civil or infrastructure-related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) for electrical drafting.
- Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lighting design software (e.g., AGI32, Dialux).
- Familiarity with HV/LV distribution systems in an infrastructure context.
- Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit).
- Knowledge of control systems and SCADA.
- First Aid certification.
