Job Description
Join the dynamic events team at the Statler Hotel as an Ice Sculpture Setup Assistant. This unique role offers the opportunity to work alongside talented artists and event professionals, contributing to the creation of breathtaking ice displays for various high-profile events, conferences, and celebrations. You will be responsible for the logistical and physical aspects of setting up intricate ice sculptures, often working in cold environments. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in handling and positioning these delicate and impressive works of art.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead artists and technicians with the safe transport and precise placement of ice blocks and finished sculpture components.
- Operate specialized equipment for moving and lifting heavy ice elements, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Prepare event sites for ice sculpture installation, including setting up drip pans, lighting, and environmental controls.
- Maintain and clean tools and equipment used in ice sculpture setup and maintenance.
- Work in refrigerated environments and outdoor winter conditions as required.
- Support the breakdown and removal of ice sculptures post-event.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support event production.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 75 lbs) regularly.
- Comfortable working in cold temperatures for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- No prior experience required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a physical labor role or events setup.
- Familiarity with operating pallet jacks or other lifting equipment.
- Interest in art, design, or event production.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
