Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Skip Bin Sorter to join our dynamic team in Mildura. This high-paying role is critical to our recycling operations, where you will be responsible for manually sorting various materials from skip bins, ensuring maximum resource recovery and efficiency. You will play a direct role in diverting waste from landfill, contributing to environmental sustainability. Full training on sorting procedures and safety protocols will be provided, ensuring you are well-equipped to excel in this essential position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort and separate recyclable materials from incoming skip bins (e.g., plastics, paper, cardboard, metals, green waste).
- Identify and remove contaminants to maintain high quality of sorted materials.
- Operate basic sorting equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., conveyor belts, hand tools).
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to ensure a safe and productive environment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to the supervisor.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily sorting targets and operational goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including standing, lifting, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate material identification and sorting.
- Commitment to working safely and following all instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of environmental responsibility and recycling principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labour role, manufacturing, or waste management industry.
- Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
- First Aid qualification.
- Understanding of different material types and their recycling properties.
