Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Industrial Hygiene Intern to join our Factory Compliance team in Staten Island, NY. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a student eager to gain practical experience in environmental health and safety within a real-world industrial setting. As an intern, you will work closely with our experienced compliance professionals, assisting with various industrial hygiene initiatives and ensuring adherence to safety regulations. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with no prior professional experience but a strong desire to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting routine industrial hygiene assessments and inspections of factory premises.
- Support the collection and analysis of environmental data related to air quality, noise levels, and chemical exposures.
- Help maintain and update compliance documentation, including safety data sheets (SDS) and exposure monitoring records.
- Participate in the development and delivery of safety training materials for factory personnel.
- Conduct research on current industrial hygiene best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging hazards.
- Assist in the investigation of workplace incidents and near-misses, contributing to root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Perform general administrative duties to support the compliance department as needed.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to tasks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior coursework or projects related to industrial hygiene principles or environmental regulations.
- Basic understanding of OSHA and EPA compliance standards.
- Experience with data collection and basic statistical analysis.
