Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Painter to join our dynamic team in Parramatta. This role is crucial for our infrastructure projects, involving the preparation and application of protective coatings to various structures, ensuring their longevity and aesthetic quality. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of industrial painting techniques, safety protocols, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, abrasive blasting, and filling as required.
- Apply various types of industrial coatings, including epoxies, urethanes, and zinc primers, using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Operate and maintain a range of painting equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects and perform touch-ups or rework as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with site supervisors and other tradespeople to ensure project deadlines are met.
- Handle and store paints, solvents, and other materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Perform risk assessments and adhere to safe work method statements (SWMS).
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience as an Industrial Painter, preferably within the infrastructure or heavy construction sector.
- Proficiency in surface preparation techniques (e.g., abrasive blasting, power tool cleaning).
- Expertise in applying various industrial coatings using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
- Sound knowledge of paint types, mixing ratios, and application specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Strong commitment to safety, including knowledge of confined space entry and working at heights procedures.
- Hold a valid White Card (General Construction Induction Card).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal trade qualification in Painting and Decorating or a relevant industrial coating application certification.
- High-risk work licenses (e.g., EWP, confined space, working at heights).
- Experience with plural component spray equipment.
- First Aid certification.
