Job Description
Are you an aspiring cybersecurity professional looking to kickstart your career? IBM is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Cybersecurity Threat Analyst to join our remote team. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals with a passion for cybersecurity, even without prior professional experience. You will be provided with comprehensive training and mentorship to develop the skills necessary to excel in threat detection, analysis, and response. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, with night shift availability to support our 24/7 security operations center. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and incidents from various security tools and platforms.
- Perform initial analysis and triage of security events to determine potential threats.
- Escalate identified security incidents to senior analysts or appropriate teams for further investigation and resolution.
- Document security incidents, investigations, and remediation steps accurately and comprehensively.
- Participate in training sessions and self-study to continuously enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to the improvement of security monitoring processes and incident response procedures.
- Work collaboratively with team members in a remote environment to maintain a strong security posture.
Required Skills
- Aptitude and strong interest in cybersecurity and information technology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Basic understanding of computer networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and threats.
- Ability to commit to night shift work as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or Google Cybersecurity Certificate.
- Prior experience in an IT support role or helpdesk position.
- Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
