Job Description

Are you an aspiring designer with a passion for user experience and a keen eye for product interaction? Commonwealth Bank is offering an exciting Junior Design Intern position with a focus on UI/UX within our product development teams. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with no prior professional experience to gain hands-on skills, learn from industry experts, and contribute to the design of cutting-edge financial products. You will be immersed in a supportive environment, learning the end-to-end design process, from research and wireframing to prototyping and testing, all while developing a strong portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior designers in conducting user research, competitive analysis, and usability testing.
  • Contribute to the creation of wireframes, user flows, and low-fidelity prototypes.
  • Support the development of high-fidelity UI designs under guidance, ensuring brand consistency and accessibility.
  • Participate in design critiques and contribute fresh perspectives to design solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements.
  • Help maintain and evolve design system components.
  • Document design decisions and specifications for development teams.

Required Skills

  • A strong portfolio (even if academic or personal projects) showcasing an interest in UI/UX design.
  • Basic understanding of design principles and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar (even if self-taught).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and receive constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrated passion for technology, digital products, and user experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with agile development processes.
  • Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS) is a plus, but not required.
