Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Locum Consultant to join our esteemed medical team at Spire Cardiff Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to provide expert clinical care, contribute to our high standards of patient safety, and work within a supportive and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes. This role demands excellent clinical acumen, strong leadership qualities, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients in your specialty area.
- Conduct ward rounds and outpatient clinics efficiently, managing a diverse caseload.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, making informed decisions on patient care pathways.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing to comprehensive patient management plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with professional and hospital standards.
- Adhere to all relevant clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior medical staff, fostering a learning environment.
- Engage in clinical governance activities, including audit, risk management, and service improvement.
- Ensure effective communication with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in on-call rotas as required by the department.
Required Skills
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (or within six months of obtaining CCT/CESR).
- Extensive experience as a Consultant in a relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical judgments and decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality of care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership or Fellowship of a relevant Royal College.
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit and research.
- Experience in teaching and training medical professionals.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification where applicable to specialty.
- Sub-specialty interest aligning with hospital needs.
