Job Description

As a Medical Equipment Delivery & Setup Driver, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare continuum, ensuring patients receive essential medical equipment directly in their homes or healthcare facilities. This includes the safe and timely delivery, setup, and instruction for use of various equipment, prominently hospital beds. You will be the face of Apria Healthcare, providing compassionate service and technical support to patients and their families. Comprehensive training will be provided for all equipment setup and patient interaction protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a company vehicle to deliver and pick up medical equipment, including hospital beds, oxygen concentrators, and mobility aids.
  • Install, set up, and test medical equipment in patient homes or facilities, ensuring proper function and patient safety.
  • Provide clear and compassionate instructions to patients and caregivers on the safe and effective use of equipment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and basic troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
  • Complete all necessary delivery manifests, service logs, and regulatory paperwork accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the company vehicle and equipment inventory.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and healthcare regulations (HIPAA).
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and other team members.

Required Skills

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy medical equipment (up to 75 lbs regularly).
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a delivery route efficiently.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in medical equipment delivery or a related field.
  • Experience working with patients or in a healthcare environment.
  • CPR certification (preferred, but not required).
  • Knowledge of durable medical equipment (DME).
