Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated National Park Law Enforcement Assistant to join our team in Beaumont, TX. This outdoor-focused role is critical to supporting the operational and safety objectives within designated national park areas. The ideal candidate will assist park law enforcement officers with a variety of tasks, including patrol support, visitor assistance, resource protection, and basic incident response. This position requires strong observational skills, a proactive approach to safety, and a commitment to working in diverse outdoor environments, often in varying weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to National Park Law Enforcement Officers during patrols and routine operations.
- Monitor park areas for compliance with regulations, reporting infractions to designated personnel.
- Assist visitors with directions, information, and general inquiries, promoting park rules and safety guidelines.
- Conduct basic preventative maintenance checks on park facilities and equipment as assigned.
- Participate in search and rescue operations or emergency response efforts as directed.
- Document and report observations, incidents, and resource damage accurately and promptly.
- Support public education initiatives regarding wildlife, natural resources, and responsible recreation.
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness suitable for outdoor work in varying terrains and conditions.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment for extended periods.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent observation and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR (certification preferred upon hire).
- Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Capacity to follow detailed instructions and work effectively in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or park ranger support roles.
- Knowledge of national park regulations, wildlife, and local ecosystems.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., wilderness first responder, defensive tactics).
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Environmental Science, or a related field.
