Job Description

Natural Resources Wales is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals for an Entry Level National Park Ranger position. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of designated national park areas to monitor conditions and ensure visitor compliance with park regulations.
  • Assist visitors with information, directions, and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, offering advice on local wildlife and trails.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as trail clearing, litter removal, and upkeep of facilities to ensure park standards are met.
  • Monitor local wildlife and habitats, reporting observations and contributing to conservation efforts.
  • Support educational programs and guided walks for schools and community groups, promoting environmental awareness.
  • Respond to minor incidents or emergencies, working collaboratively with emergency services when required.
  • Participate in conservation projects, including habitat restoration and invasive species management.

Required Skills

  • A genuine passion for nature, conservation, and outdoor environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with the public.
  • A proactive and responsible attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic outdoor navigation and safety awareness.
  • Physical fitness suitable for working outdoors in various weather conditions and over uneven terrain.
  • Full UK driving license (essential for accessing remote areas).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience volunteering in conservation, outdoor recreation, or visitor services.
  • Basic First Aid certification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proficiency in Welsh language (ability to communicate at a basic level).
  • Knowledge of local ecology, flora, and fauna in Wales.
