Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Packaging Machinery Technician to join our team in Repentigny, Quebec. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various packaging machinery and equipment. You will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our production lines, contributing directly to our commitment to quality and timely delivery. This position offers a comprehensive relocation package for qualified candidates looking to move to the beautiful region of Repentigny.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on packaging machinery, including inspections, lubrication, and calibration, to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on packaging equipment.
- Execute repairs and replacements of defective parts, ensuring machinery operates at optimal performance.
- Install, test, and commission new packaging machinery and equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance, identify potential issues, and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory of spare parts.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies, promoting a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with production teams to resolve operational issues and ensure smooth transitions between shifts.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production operators as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including reading schematics and using diagnostic tools.
- Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade certification (e.g., Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Electro-mechanic, or equivalent).
- Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) within the food industry.
- Familiarity with various packaging equipment such as fillers, sealers, labelers, cappers, and palletizers.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
