Job Description
Join our compassionate team as a Patient Transport Officer for Non-Emergency services. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to start a rewarding career in healthcare support. No prior experience in patient transport is required, as full comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role. You will be responsible for the safe, comfortable, and dignified transport of patients to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, and various healthcare facilities within Glenorchy and the broader Tasmanian region. Your role is vital in maintaining patient independence and access to essential services.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and compassionately transport non-emergency patients using company vehicles.
- Provide assistance to patients with mobility, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and vehicles.
- Perform daily vehicle checks to ensure safety and readiness, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic vehicle environment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and logs related to patient transport.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and relevant health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License (essential, minimum P2, clean driving record preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a caring attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and handle equipment safely.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- No prior experience in patient transport required; full training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (training will be provided if not held).
- Experience in a customer service or care-giving role.
- Understanding of basic medical terminology.
