Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Pet Store Cage Cleaner, working behind the scenes to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene for our animal habitats. This vital entry-level role is crucial for maintaining a healthy and comfortable environment for all our pets, directly contributing to their well-being before they find their forever homes. If you have a genuine love for animals and are committed to meticulous, hands-on work, this is the perfect opportunity to make a difference. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily deep cleaning and sanitization of animal cages, tanks, and other habitats according to strict company standards and safety protocols.
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals, reporting any signs of illness, injury, or stress to management immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in animal supply areas, cleaning stations, and other designated back-of-house areas.
- Follow all safety guidelines for handling animals, cleaning equipment, and chemicals.
- Assist with the inventory and reordering of cleaning supplies and animal bedding materials.
- Ensure all animals have access to clean water and appropriate food as part of the daily cleaning routine.
Required Skills
- A genuine love and respect for animals.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to strict cleaning schedules.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience, whether personal or volunteer, in animal care or a similar environment is a plus.
- Basic understanding of animal behavior and hygiene practices.
