Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Pool Lifeguards to join the Mount Barker District Council team for the upcoming summer season. This crucial role involves ensuring the safety of all patrons at our public aquatic facilities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing excellent customer service. As a seasonal lifeguard, you will play a vital role in enabling our community to enjoy a safe and fun summer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively supervise swimming pools and aquatic areas to prevent accidents and enforce safety regulations.
- Perform water rescues, administer first aid, and initiate emergency procedures as required.
- Conduct regular checks of pool facilities, equipment, and water quality.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting patrons with inquiries and maintaining a positive environment.
- Educate patrons on pool rules and safe practices.
- Assist with the setup and pack down of pool equipment.
- Complete accurate incident reports and daily logs.
- Attend regular in-service training and maintain currency of qualifications.
Required Skills
- Current Pool Lifeguard Award (e.g., Bronze Medallion or equivalent).
- Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certifications.
- Excellent swimming ability and physical fitness.
- Strong observation and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and public holidays.
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a lifeguard in a public aquatic facility.
- Pool Operations experience or certification.
- Anaphylaxis and Asthma management training.
