Job Description
Are you a budding electrical engineering student passionate about the future of power systems and electrical infrastructure? Essential Energy is offering an exciting internship opportunity in Bathurst, NSW, for a Power Systems Intern with an Electrical Infrastructure Focus. This paid internship will immerse you in real-world projects, providing hands-on experience in the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of our vast electricity distribution network. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to critical projects that ensure reliable power supply to regional communities. This is an entry-level position designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the analysis and design of electrical distribution systems.
- Support engineers in projects related to network upgrades, maintenance, and new connections.
- Conduct data collection and analysis for various electrical infrastructure components.
- Contribute to the development of technical reports and documentation.
- Participate in site visits and field assessments as required, observing safety protocols.
- Learn and apply industry standards and regulations related to power systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power generation, transmission, and distribution concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of introductory coursework in power systems or electrical machines.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) or simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD, ETAP).
- Previous volunteer or project experience related to electrical systems.
- Valid NSW Driver's License (P2 or Full).
