Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Remote Medical Coder & Biller to join our virtual team. This is a crucial role responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely coding of medical diagnoses and procedures, as well as the efficient processing and submission of medical claims. You will play a vital part in our revenue cycle management, working independently from your home office to support our healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures based on medical documentation.
- Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies and other payers electronically.
- Review and resolve denied or rejected claims, initiating appeals as necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and other departments for clarification on documentation.
- Utilize medical billing software to manage accounts and track payment statuses.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, DPA).
Required Skills
- Proven experience in medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) and billing practices.
- Proficiency with various medical billing and coding software systems.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification.
- Prior experience working in a remote medical coding or billing role.
- Familiarity with the UK healthcare system, both NHS and private sector operations.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding and billing.
