Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Remote Patient Appointment Scheduler to join our healthcare call center team. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while contributing to vital healthcare services. In this role, you will be responsible for managing patient appointment schedules, ensuring efficient coordination between patients and healthcare providers. You will handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, provide information, and maintain accurate patient records in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage high volumes of incoming calls from patients, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments using our electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information, updating records as necessary.
  • Provide clear and concise information regarding appointment details, preparation instructions, and clinic policies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and clinical staff to optimize scheduling and patient flow.
  • Handle patient inquiries and resolve scheduling conflicts with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information in compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., PHIPA, PIPEDA).
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a customer service or administrative role, preferably in a call center or healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and experience with data entry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet home office space.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Medical Office Administration or a related field.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare scheduling software (e.g., Accuro, Med Access).
  • Experience working in a remote or work-from-home capacity.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset.
