Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in a vital industry? Cleanaway is offering an incredible opportunity for a dedicated individual to join us as a Sanitation Truck Driver Trainee in Parramatta. No prior heavy vehicle experience is required! We will provide comprehensive training, including fully paid CDL/HGV licensing, to equip you with the skills and qualifications needed to become a professional sanitation truck driver. This is a full-time position where you’ll learn on the job, contributing to essential community services while earning a competitive salary and securing a long-term career path.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and complete all required training modules, including theoretical and practical driving instruction.
- Learn and adhere to all safety protocols, operational procedures, and road regulations.
- Assist experienced drivers with daily collection routes, including loading and unloading waste and recycling materials as instructed.
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle and work area.
- Develop a strong understanding of various waste types and proper disposal methods.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections under supervision.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and businesses along collection routes.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian C-class (car) driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and drug and alcohol screening.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects (up to 25kg) and perform repetitive tasks.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to work early mornings and in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and commit to a long-term career with Cleanaway.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in vehicle maintenance.
- Residing within the Parramatta region or surrounding suburbs.
