Job Description
Are you looking to kick-start your career in surveying? Kent County Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Surveying Technician to join our dedicated Department of Lands team. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals with no prior experience who are eager to learn and develop a professional career in land surveying. You will receive comprehensive training and support from experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge surveying equipment and techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior surveyors with data collection using various surveying instruments (e.g., total stations, GPS, levels).
- Learn to interpret maps, plans, and technical drawings.
- Maintain and organize surveying equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and calibration.
- Record field data accurately and prepare basic survey sketches.
- Support the processing of survey data under supervision.
- Adhere to safety regulations and quality standards in all field operations.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous professional development activities.
Required Skills
- GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English, at grade C/4 or above.
- A keen interest in geography, technology, or outdoor work.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Full UK driving license (or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe).
Preferred Qualifications
- A-levels in relevant subjects (e.g., Geography, Maths, Science).
- Basic IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Any prior experience with technical drawings or outdoor activities.
