Job Description
Randstad Australia, based in Brisbane, is currently seeking passionate and dedicated School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs) to join government schools across New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria (VIC). This crucial role involves providing direct support to students with diverse learning needs, assisting teachers in classroom management, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment. While our recruitment hub is in Brisbane, these rewarding opportunities are located within school settings in NSW and VIC, supporting students from kindergarten to Year 12. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with specific learning or behavioural needs.
- Assist teachers in preparing classroom materials, setting up learning activities, and managing resources.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural support plans (BSPs).
- Supervise students during classroom activities, playground duty, and excursions.
- Support students with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other school staff regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Reliability and a proactive approach to supporting student learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Education Support or a related field.
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Understanding of diverse learning needs and inclusive education practices.
