Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload various types of scrap metal materials using appropriate equipment and manual techniques.
- Sort and process incoming scrap metal according to company standards and material specifications.
- Operate machinery such as forklifts, excavators, or shears after proper training and certification.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Conduct visual inspections of materials for quality and safety compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.
- Assist with general yard duties and maintenance as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and following procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify different metal types.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Australian driver’s license.
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial or outdoor work environment (not essential, but a bonus).
- Forklift license or other heavy machinery operating tickets (training provided if not held).
