Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as Seafood Sorters. This is an immediate hire opportunity for a critical role within our fast-paced Fyshwick processing and distribution facility. As a Seafood Sorter, you will be responsible for inspecting, grading, and preparing various types of seafood to meet our stringent quality standards. No prior experience is necessary, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to ensure your success. This is an on-site role that requires consistent attendance and the ability to work in a cool environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming seafood for quality, freshness, and defects.
- Sort seafood by type, size, and grade according to company specifications.
- Perform basic cleaning and preparation of seafood as required.
- Operate and monitor sorting and processing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all products are accurately weighed and packed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with hygiene and safety standards.
- Adhere to all food safety and occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a cold and fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a factory, production, or warehouse setting (not required, but a plus).
- Understanding of basic food safety principles.
- Valid First Aid certificate.
