Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable Seafood Sorter to join our team in Tully, Queensland. This is an immediate hire opportunity for individuals looking for stable full-time employment in a dynamic coastal environment. As a Seafood Sorter, you will be an integral part of our processing operations, ensuring that all incoming seafood meets our stringent quality standards before it moves to the next stage of preparation. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals eager to learn and grow within the seafood industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sort and grade various types of seafood according to size, species, and quality standards.
  • Inspect seafood for defects, damage, or foreign material.
  • Operate processing equipment as directed, following all safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Assist with packing and preparing seafood for distribution.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality discrepancies.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15kg.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food handling or production environment (not essential, full training provided).
  • Understanding of basic food safety principles.
  • Forklift license (beneficial but not required).
