Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our innovative data team in Derby. This role is crucial for designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines and infrastructure that power our advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives. You will be instrumental in transforming raw data into actionable insights, working with large datasets and complex systems. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and other relevant technologies.
- Build and optimize data models in data warehouses and data lakes.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to understand data requirements and deliver robust solutions.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and security across all data platforms.
- Implement and manage data governance policies and procedures.
- Participate in code reviews, promote best practices, and mentor junior team members.
- Evaluate and integrate new data tools and technologies to improve efficiency and capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
Required Skills
- Expertise in Python for data manipulation and scripting.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
- Proven experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, AWS Glue, Google Cloud Dataflow).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modelling, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience in the manufacturing, aerospace, or heavy industry sectors.
- Certification in cloud data platforms (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate).
