Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our dynamic team in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This role is crucial in providing high-quality care and support to adults with learning disabilities, helping them to live fulfilling and independent lives. As a Senior Support Worker, you will be responsible for leading shifts, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that care plans are implemented effectively. We welcome applications from both local candidates and eligible international applicants, as Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) is available for suitable candidates who require it.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of support workers during shifts, ensuring high standards of care.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans in collaboration with service users, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Provide direct personal care, emotional support, and practical assistance to individuals with learning disabilities.
- Administer medication according to policy and maintain accurate records.
- Promote independence and community integration through various activities and outings.
- Manage challenging behaviours professionally and effectively, utilizing de-escalation techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of care, observations, and incidents.
- Act as a key worker for designated individuals, advocating for their needs and preferences.
- Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and organisational policies.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a support worker role, preferably with individuals with learning disabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to mentor junior staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Strong understanding of person-centred care principles.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others.
- Proficiency in written English for documentation.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with challenging behaviour management.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of local safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Previous experience as a key worker.
