Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Signal Systems Lead to join our Railway Maintenance team in Busselton, Western Australia. This ongoing full-time role is crucial for ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our railway signalling infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled technicians, overseeing the maintenance, fault finding, and upgrade of complex signalling systems across a critical section of our network. You will be instrumental in implementing best practices, ensuring compliance with all safety standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our railway operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of signal technicians, fostering a culture of safety and high performance.
- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventative and reactive maintenance activities for railway signalling systems.
- Diagnose and rectify complex faults within interlocking, track circuit, point machine, and level crossing control systems.
- Ensure all maintenance and installation activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of signalling equipment and work performed by the team.
- Manage documentation, reporting, and asset management records for all signalling assets.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to support infrastructure upgrades and new installations.
- Participate in an on-call roster for emergency fault response.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in railway signalling maintenance, fault finding, and testing.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of railway signalling principles, standards, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagrams and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- High level of safety consciousness and adherence to safe work practices.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
- Rail Industry Worker (RIW) card or ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Signal Engineering.
- Experience with specific signalling technologies used in Western Australia (e.g., axle counters, electronic interlockings).
- Project management experience in a railway environment.
- Cert IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
