Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit Steel Yard Hand to join our dynamic team in Victor Harbor. This role is crucial for the efficient operation of our steel yard, involving significant heavy lifting and material handling. If you are reliable, safety-conscious, and ready to work in a fast-paced environment with top hourly rates, we encourage you to apply. Full training will be provided to ensure you understand our products and safety protocols, but a strong work ethic and physical capability are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and store incoming steel products and building materials
- Accurately pick and prepare customer orders for dispatch, including heavy steel sections
- Operate forklifts and other yard machinery safely and efficiently (training provided if necessary)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment at all times
- Conduct regular stock checks and assist with inventory management
- Assist customers with loading orders and provide excellent service
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform heavy manual lifting and physical tasks
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor, all-weather environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Forklift (LF) Licence
- Previous experience in a steel yard, warehouse, or similar industrial environment
- Basic knowledge of steel products and building materials
- First Aid certification
