Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Subway / Metro Station Attendant to join our team in Beckenham. In this essential role, you will be the face of TfL, ensuring our passengers have a safe, pleasant, and efficient journey. You will provide front-line assistance, manage station operations, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with journey planning, ticket purchases, and general enquiries.
  • Ensure the safety and security of passengers and staff by monitoring station platforms and public areas.
  • Operate ticket machines and assist customers with Oyster and contactless payment systems.
  • Manage crowd control and respond to emergencies or incidents in accordance with established procedures.
  • Report and record any incidents, faults, or unusual occurrences.
  • Maintain station cleanliness and report any maintenance issues.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities or special needs, ensuring accessibility.
  • Communicate important service information and disruptions clearly and effectively to passengers.

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • A positive and helpful customer service attitude.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in busy or challenging situations.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • A commitment to safety and adherence to operational procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
  • Experience working in a transport or retail environment.
  • Knowledge of the London public transport network.
  • First Aid certification.
