Job Description

Kier Group is seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our traffic management team as Traffic Controllers in Ipswich. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity where no prior experience is required – we will provide all the necessary training and certifications to get you started. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of road users and our on-site teams, managing traffic flow around construction and maintenance sites. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently manage traffic flow around construction and maintenance sites.
- Implement temporary traffic management plans according to site requirements and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with site personnel, colleagues, and the public.
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control equipment, including signs, cones, and barriers.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Provide clear and concise directions to drivers and pedestrians.
- Perform daily safety checks on equipment and report any issues.
Required Skills
- No prior experience required – full paid training provided.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- A proactive and responsible attitude towards safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid UK driving license (desirable but not essential for initial training).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a role requiring outdoor work or physical activity.
- Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
- Relevant NVQ or similar qualification in traffic management (not required, but advantageous after training).
