Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Foreign Language Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate educator to make a significant impact on our students’ linguistic and cultural development. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Spanish, French, or Mandarin to students across various age groups and proficiency levels. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Spanish, French, or Mandarin to secondary school students.
- Develop and implement effective curriculum plans in line with national standards and school policies.
- Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to language acquisition.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and development.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school-wide events, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to the extracurricular life of the school through clubs or activities related to foreign languages.
Required Skills
- Fluency (native or near-native proficiency) in Spanish, French, or Mandarin.
- Proven ability to teach effectively to secondary school age groups.
- Strong understanding of modern language teaching methodologies and pedagogical best practices.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGDE, QTS or equivalent).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant foreign language or education.
- Previous experience teaching in a secondary school setting.
- Ability to teach more than one of the specified languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin).
- Familiarity with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence or equivalent national curriculum.
