Job Description
Aurizon is seeking experienced and safety-conscious Train Drivers / Locomotive Engineers to join our dynamic team in Fremantle, Western Australia. This is a unique opportunity for skilled professionals, including international applicants, to contribute to a leading rail freight operator. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of freight trains, ensuring timely delivery of goods across our extensive network. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate locomotives and freight trains in accordance with all regulations, company procedures, and timetables.
- Conduct pre-departure, en-route, and post-arrival inspections of locomotives and rolling stock.
- Manage train movements, including coupling, uncoupling, and shunting operations.
- Respond effectively to operational incidents, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with network control, ground staff, and other team members.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and railway operating rules.
- Complete accurate operational logs and reports.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Train Driver or Locomotive Engineer.
- Strong understanding of rail operating procedures and safety regulations.
- Ability to obtain or hold a relevant Australian Train Driver's Licence and associated competencies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High level of safety awareness and adherence to safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in varying conditions and shifts.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with heavy haul freight operations.
- Knowledge of Australian railway networks and signalling systems (training provided for international applicants).
- Experience operating various types of locomotives.
- Relevant vocational qualifications in rail operations.
