Job Description

The Town of Oliver is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Waste Management Supervisor to join our Public Works team. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the ropes of waste management operations, with absolutely no prior experience required. We provide comprehensive training and mentorship to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to supervise waste collection, disposal, and recycling programs efficiently and safely. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our town’s waste management practices are effective, compliant, and environmentally responsible.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured training program to understand all aspects of waste management operations, including collection, disposal, and recycling.
- Assist in the supervision of waste management site activities, ensuring adherence to operational procedures and safety standards.
- Learn to monitor and inspect waste collection routes and disposal facilities for compliance with municipal bylaws and provincial regulations.
- Help maintain accurate records of waste volumes, equipment usage, and incidents.
- Support the implementation of safety protocols and promote a safe working environment for all staff and public.
- Communicate effectively with residents regarding waste management guidelines, schedules, and inquiries.
- Assist with the operation of light equipment as required, following appropriate training and certification.
- Collaborate with senior supervisors and team members to identify and implement operational improvements.
