Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Venture Capital Principal to join our investment team. This pivotal role involves leading the full investment lifecycle, from deal sourcing and rigorous due diligence to structuring transactions, negotiating terms, and actively supporting portfolio companies. The Principal will play a crucial role in identifying and evaluating promising startups and growth-stage companies, primarily focusing on sectors aligned with our strategic investment theses. You will be instrumental in driving value creation and contributing to our firm’s strategic objectives in the vibrant Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate new investment opportunities across target sectors through industry research, network development, and proactive outreach.
- Lead comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial analysis, market assessment, competitive landscape analysis, technical reviews, and management team evaluations.
- Develop and present detailed investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
- Structure, negotiate, and execute complex equity and debt investment transactions.
- Provide strategic and operational support to portfolio companies, including board observation and mentorship.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, identify potential risks, and implement value-creation strategies.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, and pitch competitions to build brand awareness and expand deal flow.
- Conduct ongoing market research and trend analysis to inform investment strategy.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, or a related field with direct investment execution experience.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to source, evaluate, and execute complex transactions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, co-investors, and industry experts.
- Deep understanding of startup ecosystems and emerging technology trends.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or CFA designation.
- Specific industry expertise in areas such as FinTech, HealthTech, Enterprise SaaS, or AI/ML.
- Track record of successful investments and portfolio company exits.
- Experience in working with diverse teams and international markets.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to global investment markets.
