Job Description

Atlantic Shield Restoration is seeking a motivated and reliable Water Damage Restoration Assistant to join our dedicated team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in the restoration industry, offering comprehensive training and significant opportunities for overtime. As an Assistant, you will play a crucial role in responding to emergency water damage situations, working closely with our experienced technicians to mitigate damage, dry properties, and restore peace of mind to our clients. This position requires an on-call commitment and the flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, in response to urgent calls. Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency water damage calls as part of an on-call roster.
  • Assist lead technicians with water extraction, demolition, and structural drying procedures.
  • Set up and monitor drying equipment, including dehumidifiers and air movers.
  • Safely handle and dispose of damaged materials.
  • Perform basic cleanup and sanitization of affected areas.
  • Load and unload equipment and supplies from company vehicles.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and company vehicles.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients on job sites.
  • Document job site conditions and progress as required.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Availability to work on an on-call roster, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role (e.g., construction, general labor).
  • Familiarity with basic tools and equipment.
  • IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certifications (e.g., WRT) are a plus, but full training will be provided.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
