Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Community Development Officer to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will be responsible for leading and implementing a range of community development initiatives, programs, and projects aimed at enhancing social well-being, engagement, and capacity building within the Port Lincoln region. You will work closely with community groups, local businesses, government agencies, and residents to identify needs, facilitate partnerships, and deliver impactful outcomes that align with Council’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify community needs and opportunities through consultation and research.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate community development programs and projects.
- Facilitate partnerships and collaborations with community groups, businesses, and other stakeholders.
- Assist community groups in securing funding through grant applications and other avenues.
- Organise and coordinate community events, workshops, and forums.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials for Council and the community.
- Promote community participation and volunteerism in Council initiatives.
- Manage project budgets and resources effectively.
- Monitor and report on project progress and outcomes against set objectives.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement and consultation.
- Strong project management and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of community development principles and practices.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences, Human Services, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a local government or not-for-profit setting.
- Knowledge of the Port Lincoln community and local issues.
- Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
