Job Description

West Oxfordshire District Council is seeking a dedicated Council Admin Assistant to support our vital local government operations in Chipping Norton. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to various council departments.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records, databases, and filing systems (both digital and physical).
  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, presentations, and other documents.
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and visitor inquiries professionally and efficiently.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and room bookings.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and equipment.
  • Support team members with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all council policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an office or administrative support role (even voluntary).
