Job Description
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals to join us as Trainee Firefighters. This is an exciting opportunity to embark on a challenging and rewarding career, making a real difference to the lives of people in our community. As a Trainee Firefighter, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop the skills, knowledge, and physical fitness required to become a competent operational firefighter. You will learn how to respond to a variety of emergencies, deliver vital community safety advice, and work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate fully in an intensive training program covering all aspects of firefighting and rescue operations.
- Develop and maintain a high level of physical fitness, meeting the rigorous standards required for the role.
- Learn to operate and maintain a wide range of firefighting equipment and vehicles safely and effectively.
- Respond to emergency calls, including fires, road traffic collisions, chemical spills, and water rescue incidents.
- Assist in the delivery of community safety initiatives, educating the public on fire prevention and safety.
- Work collaboratively as part of a watch team, demonstrating strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Undertake continuous professional development and assessments throughout the trainee period.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Full UK driving licence (manual transmission).
- Ability to swim confidently.
- Demonstrable commitment to physical fitness and healthy living.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Resilience and ability to perform under pressure.
- A genuine desire to help others and serve the community.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a role requiring teamwork or public interaction.
- First Aid qualification.
- Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
