Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Stable Hand to join our team at Green Meadows Equestrian Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a love for horses who is eager to learn and contribute to their well-being. As a Stable Hand, you will be integral to the daily operations of our yard, ensuring our horses are healthy, happy, and well-cared for. Full training will be provided for enthusiastic candidates with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in equine care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily mucking out, ensuring stables are clean and comfortable.
- Prepare and distribute feed and fresh water according to strict schedules and dietary requirements.
- Turn horses out to pasture and bring them in, checking for any injuries or concerns.
- Groom horses, ensuring their coats, manes, and tails are clean and healthy.
- Assist with holding horses for the farrier, vet, and other professionals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the tack room, feed room, and general yard areas.
- Assist with basic first aid for horses under supervision.
- Report any changes in a horse's health or behaviour to senior staff.
- Support riding school activities and livery clients as needed.
Required Skills

- Good physical fitness for demanding tasks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with horses (personal or professional) is a plus, but not essential.
- Basic understanding of equine behaviour and safety.
- Own transport due to location.
