Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our busy local clinic in Joondalup. This part-time position focuses on morning shifts, playing a vital role in the smooth operation of our front desk and ensuring an excellent patient experience. You will be the first point of contact for our patients, managing appointments, inquiries, and administrative tasks with professionalism and a friendly demeanor. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to providing outstanding administrative support in a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage their check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, manage cancellations, and reschedule as needed using practice management software.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to emails, and address patient inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Process patient payments, manage billing inquiries, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Maintain patient records with strict adherence to confidentiality guidelines (HIPAA/privacy laws).
- Prepare consultation rooms, ensure the waiting area is tidy and welcoming.
- Liaise with medical staff to ensure seamless patient flow and communication.
- Assist with general administrative duties, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Proficiency in administrative tasks and office equipment (computers, phone systems, printers).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment.
- High level of empathy, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn new software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and practice management software (e.g., Best Practice, MedicalDirector).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of medical billing practices.
