Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Nurses (NICU) to join our esteemed team at SickKids Hospital in Toronto. This unique opportunity includes international sponsorship for qualified candidates looking to make a significant impact in pediatric critical care. As a NICU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing expert nursing care to premature and critically ill infants, monitoring their condition, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to neonates in a critical care environment, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor vital signs, interpret physiological data, and recognize changes in patient condition requiring intervention.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to hospital policies.
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as ventilators, incubators, and monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with neonatologists, residents, respiratory therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate and support families regarding their infant's condition, treatment plan, and discharge instructions.
  • Document all aspects of patient care accurately and comprehensively in electronic health records.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain competency and advance nursing practice.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and lumbar punctures.

Required Skills

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in your home country with eligibility for licensure in Ontario, Canada.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent, continuous experience in a Level III or Level IV NICU.
  • Demonstrated expertise in neonatal assessment, critical care interventions, and equipment management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Commitment to patient and family-centered care.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal communication).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Certification in Critical Care Nursing (e.g., CNN(C)).
  • Experience with electronic health record systems, particularly EPIC.
  • Previous experience with international adaptation or sponsorship processes.
