Job Description
Are you passionate about fashion, visual storytelling, and creating immersive retail environments? Nordstrom’s Flagship Store in Reno, NV, is seeking a highly motivated and creative Visual Merchandising & Windows Intern to join our dynamic team. This entry-level internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in visual merchandising within a high-volume, premier retail setting. You will work closely with experienced visual merchandisers, contributing to the aesthetic appeal of our store, from window displays to in-store presentations. This is an incredible chance to learn the foundational skills needed for a successful career in visual merchandising and retail display.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Visual Merchandising team in executing seasonal window displays and in-store visual presentations.
- Support the styling and merchandising of product on mannequins, fixtures, and display units.
- Help organize and maintain the visual stockroom, ensuring props and tools are readily available.
- Participate in visual setup and breakdown for promotional events and floor moves.
- Learn and apply Nordstrom's visual standards to ensure brand consistency and compelling product presentation.
- Research emerging visual trends and contribute creative ideas to future displays.
- Provide general support to the visual team, including administrative tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for fashion, retail, and visual merchandising.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to lift and move display materials, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/certificate in Visual Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, Retail Management, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a retail setting (even if not visual-specific).
- A portfolio showcasing creative projects, visual concepts, or design work (can include academic projects).
